DDEESSCCRRIIPPTTIIOONN
ggrroollbbpp is a driver for ggrrooffff that produces output in CAPSL
and VDM format suitable for Canon LBP-4 and LBP-8 print
ers.
For compatibility with grolj4 there is an additional draw
ing command available:
\\DD''RR _d_h _d_v''
Draw a rule (i.e. a solid black rectangle), with
one corner at the current position, and the diago
nally opposite corner at the current position
+(_d_h,_d_v).
OOPPTTIIOONNSS
Note that there can be whitespace between a one-letter
option and its argument; on the other hand, there must be
whitespace and/or an equal sign (`=') between a long-name
option and its argument.
--cc_n_u_m_c_o_p_i_e_s
----ccooppiieess==_n_u_m_c_o_p_i_e_s
Print _n_u_m_c_o_p_i_e_s copies of each page.
--ll
----llaannddssccaappee
Print the document with a landscape orientation.
--pp_p_a_p_e_r___s_i_z_e
----ppaappeerrssiizzee==_p_a_p_e_r___s_i_z_e
Set the paper size to _p_a_p_e_r___s_i_z_e, which must be a
valid paper size description as indicated in the
section PPAAPPEERR SSIIZZEESS.
--oo_o_r_i_e_n_t_a_t_i_o_n
----oorriieennttaattiioonn==_o_r_i_e_n_t_a_t_i_o_n
Print the document with _o_r_i_e_n_t_a_t_i_o_n orientation,
which must be `portrait' or `landscape'.
--vv
----vveerrssiioonn
Print the version number.
--FF_d_i_r
----ffoonnttddiirr==_d_i_r
Prepend directory _d_i_r//ddeevvllbbpp to the search path for
font and device description files.
--hh
----hheellpp Print a short help text.
TTYYPPEEFFAACCEESS
The driver supports the Dutch, Swiss and Swiss-Narrow
scalable typefaces, each one in the Regular, Bold, Italic
and Bold-Italic styles. Additionally, the Courier and
Elite monospaced typefaces at the sizes 8 and 12 points
(for Courier) resp. 8 and 10 points (for Elite) are sup
ported, each one in the Regular, Bold and Italic styles.
The following chart summarizes the font names you can use
to access these fonts:

PPAAPPEERR SSIIZZEESS
The paper size can be set in the DDEESSCC file or with command
line options to ggrroollbbpp. If the paper size is specified
both ways, the command line options take precedence over
the contents of the DDEESSCC file (this applies to the page
orientation too).
To set the paper size in the DDEESSCC file, insert in that
file a line containing ppaappeerrssiizzee _d_e_s_i_r_e_d___p_a_p_e_r_s_i_z_e, where
_d_e_s_i_r_e_d___p_a_p_e_r_s_i_z_e is:
One of the recognized paper sizes: `a4', `letter',
`legal' or `executive'.
A custom defined paper size, as described in the CCUUSS
TTOOMM PPAAPPEERR SSIIZZEESS subsection below.
The name of a file (e.g. _/_e_t_c_/_p_a_p_e_r_s_i_z_e) whose first
line must be the desired paper size in one of the
above formats.
If there are various papersize lines in the DDEESSCC file,
only the first valid one is used.
To set the paper size in the command line, add
--pp _d_e_s_i_r_e_d___p_a_p_e_r_s_i_z_e
or
----ppaappeerrssiizzee==_d_e_s_i_r_e_d___p_a_p_e_r_s_i_z_e
to the other ggrroollbbpp options, where ddeessiirreedd__ppaappeerrssiizzee is in
the same format as in the DDEESSCC file.
Paper sizes are case insensitive (i.e., `A4' is the same
as `a4').
If no paper size is specified in the DDEESSCC file or the com
mand line, a default size of A4 is used.
CCUUSSTTOOMM PPAAPPEERR SSIIZZEESS
Custom defined paper sizes are in the form
ccuusstt_l_e_n_g_t_hxx_w_i_d_t_h where _l_e_n_g_t_h and _w_i_d_t_h are the
dimensions of the paper you want to to use, speci
fied in printer units (1/300 of an inch). For
instance, to print in a postcard sized paper which
is two inches long and four inches wide you can
insert a line containing
ppaappeerrssiizzee ccuusstt660000xx11220000
at the beginning of the DDEESSCC file.
PPAAGGEE OORRIIEENNTTAATTIIOONN
As with the page size, the orientation of the printed page
(ppoorrttrraaiitt or llaannddssccaappee) can be set in the DDEESSCC file or
with command line options. It is also case insensitive.
To set the orientation in the DDEESSCC file, insert a line
with the following content:
oorriieennttaattiioonn [ppoorrttrraaiitt|llaannddssccaappee]
As with paper sizes, only the first valid orientation com
mand in the DDEESSCC file is used.
To set the page orientation with command line options you
can use the --oo or ----oorriieennttaattiioonn option with the same
parameters (ppoorrttrraaiitt or llaannddssccaappee) as in the DDEESSCC file.
Or you can use the --ll option to force the pages to be
printed in landscape.
FFOONNTT FFIILLEE FFOORRMMAATT
In addition to the usual commands described in
ggrrooffff__ffoonntt(5), ggrroollbbpp provides the command _l_b_p_n_a_m_e which
sets the font name sent to the printer when requesting
this font. The syntax of this command is:
llbbppnnaammee _p_r_i_n_t_e_r___f_o_n_t___n_a_m_e
For bitmapped fonts, _p_r_i_n_t_e_r___f_o_n_t___n_a_m_e has the form
N<_b_a_s_e___f_o_n_t_n_a_m_e><_f_o_n_t___s_t_y_l_e>
_b_a_s_e___f_o_n_t_n_a_m_e is the font name as it appears in the
printers font listings without the first letter, up
to (but not including) the font size. _f_o_n_t___s_t_y_l_e
can be one of the letters RR, II, or BB, indicating
the font styles Roman, Italic and Bold respec
tively.
For instance, if the printer's _f_o_n_t _l_i_s_t_i_n_g _A shows
font `Nelite12I.ISO_USA', the corresponding entry
in the font description file is
llbbppnnaammee NNeelliitteeII
Note that you may need to modify ggrroollbbpp to add sup
port for new bitmapped fonts, since the available
font names and font sizes of bitmapped fonts (as
documented above) are hard-coded into the program.
For scalable fonts, _p_r_i_n_t_e_r___f_o_n_t___n_a_m_e is identical
to the font name as it appears in the printer's
_f_o_n_t _l_i_s_t_i_n_g _A.
For instance, to select the `Swiss' font in bold
style, which appears in the printer's _f_o_n_t _l_i_s_t_i_n_g
_A as `Swiss-Bold', the required llbbppnnaammee command
line is
llbbppnnaammee SSwwiissss--BBoolldd
The argument of llbbppnnaammee is case sensitive.
